A Beautiful Journey
Hi y’all,
Many of you know me, and some of you may
not, but I figure lets lay a nice foundation of who I am and why I am sharing
my life with you. Fair game?
I grew up in Medway Massachusetts, a town
about an hour south-west of Boston. I attended Fairfield University in
Connecticut and graduated in 2013 with a BA in history. I then pursued a master
of art in education. This privileged me
to teach both high school and elementary school students in Connecticut. Throughout
this time I had the transformational experience of coaching athletes - high
school, college, and adults – in the sport of rowing.
I am incredibly blessed to have had the opportunities
to work with so many diverse and unique human beings thanks to my time as an
educator – which I define as both my academic and athletic teaching. If you are a student of mine THANK YOU! You have
deeply touched my heart and transformed me as a human being.
I believe that we are mind, body, soul and
that to truly thrive – to express the innate perfection that animates us all –
we must experience and integrate our three aspects. This is really the core of
what I hope to do with our relationship – that’s right, you and me, were in
this together. We are all on a path of
exploration, one that will ultimately conclude with our passing from this life,
and I believe that we as humans face a few primary questions:
- Why do I exist?
- Why do I know I exist?
- What should I do with this existence?
Now I am keenly aware that this flirts the line
of sounding preachy, and I do not want to preach to anyone. I am ignorant of much, in fact there is infinitely
more to know than I can ever know, so please hear me - my only goal in writing
and building this relationship with you is so that we can walk the journey of
life together. I have no sure answers to
these three questions, in fact the only one I think I have even a clue about is
the final one.
So as I alluded to I see life as a journey,
we are all explorers who are seeking answers to these questions so let’s
explore together!
So what am I up to right now on my journey? Well literally right this minute I am sitting
in the library at Life University in Marietta Georgia communicating with you!
How’d you get there, just a few paragraphs
earlier you were educating in Connecticut?
Well like we said life is a journey and my
path for the next three and a half years is to study the science, art, and
philosophy of chiropractic. I came to
Life U to seek answers to the third question.
I want to continue what I began as an educator - to give and serve you
so we can both THRIVE. By thrive I mean
for us to find answers to these three questions. To truly live and come alive.
Did we go too far into the
metaphysical? Ok let’s bring it back
down to earth.
So what can you expect if you keep reading
my posts? Who knows it’s a mystery! I’m just kidding, I expect my posts will fall
into the three topics of body, mind, and spirit. For body I want to explore fitness,
nutrition, strength training, and sport specific training for rowing. For mind we will explore the stories we tell
ourselves that limit or empower us, who we learn from and use as mentors and role
models. For spirit we will explore the
deep stuff – how we deal with tragedy, pain, suffering, ecstasy, love, and peace.
Ok, for now I’m out. I look forward to where your journey takes
you and where mine takes me.
Peace and love,
Matt
